Three Ways to Calm Your Worried Heart

With everything going on in today’s world, it can be very easy to be worried and spend your days stressed. The worry pit can become overwhelming. It can lead to a constant state of negativity. I myself have fallen into this worry pit over the last several months. It’s easy to do! Through this time though, I’ve learned three things that help me deal with my worry that also might help you deal with your worry.

Pick Up A New Hobby

Whether it’s something as simple as solving puzzles or something as intense as weightlifting, picking up a new hobby can give you something to focus on and distract yourself for a little while from the worry you’re dealing with. Some of my personal favorites that I have been trying to pick up are things like cooking, writing letters of positivity to others, and even this blog! All of these things have been helpful to channel my energy into a useful and beneficial thing rather than putting my energy into worrying.

Write Down Your Worries

Writing down what you’re worried about can help you really focus on those things and get them off your chest. You can make lists of what you’re worried about. You can write it down journal style. By using writing to express your worry, you are able to relieve some of that tension and put it into action. You could also try to do the opposite. Instead of writing down your worries, try writing down positive thoughts. The more positivity you see and you express, the easier it will become for you to have a positive mindset!

Talk to Someone

It’s the oldest trick in the book. Talking to someone about what you’re feeling, thinking, or dealing with can greatly help you overcome those things. Another person can bring you insight and a new perspective that can help you adjust your focus and find sources of happiness. You can talk to a counselor, a close friend, a mentor, a parent, or even a teacher. Talking to someone can help you realize what you’re worried about and put it into words. It can also bring emotions out that you didn’t even know you were dealing with. Having those people that you can go to and talk to about things you are dealing with and worried about will help you process emotions and learn the coping skills needed to overcome.

I hope one of these tips will help you with whatever is on your heart right now. These are stressful times, and I know everyone is dealing with something. I’m praying for you all!

Oh! Happy Thanksgiving!

Two Real Ways to Make Cash in College, Fast!

John Lukas and I kayaking the Suwannee River in September, 2020

Okay, okay! I know everyone has seen posts like this before, and I know this isn’t exactly what I normally write about, BUT this is very true and very helpful information for anyone wanting to make quick cash!

What can you do with extra cash? John Lukas and I use our extra cash to pursue our adventures and help pay our bills! It has really allowed us the freedom to do more than we normally could! So let’s get to it!

#1 Doordash

Doordash is a great way to earn extra cash. All you need is a car and a smart phone. It’s super easy to sign up for- just download the Dasher app, sign up, and start dashing. Most cities have Doordash now; however, there are still a few cities that don’t. Don’t sweat it though, you can easily just drive to a city that has it. Doordash consists of you-the driver, delivering food to customers. Doordash pays you a certain amount of money each dash and then customers tip you as well. You get paid once a week on either Monday or Tuesday. On average, dashers can make $10-$12 an hour. It’s a great way to earn extra cash, and you make your own schedule.

#2 Donating Plasma

Okay, if you can handle needles and blood, this is for you! CSL Plasma is a company that pays you to donate plasma. They collect your plasma and use it to create medicines, run tests, and meet other medical needs. Because of the decrease in donations due to COVID-19, CSL Plasma is offering a new donor bonus of $65 a donation for your first five donations. The nurses and doctors at CSL Plasma make sure you’re okay and that there are no physical issues that could cause you harm. You get paid as soon as your done donating and can instantly use your money.

So what could you use this extra cash on? Some unexpected bills? A vacation? Maybe just a night out? These are both great ways to help you fund your life and create the life you want!

Family and Food

Welcome back lovely adventurers! I hope you had a great week.

Our week was filled with lots of travel, good food family time, and new experiences. John Lukas and I got the chance to travel down to Plant City and visit with his family. We had such a fun time seeing everyone and making memories with them.

During our week in Plant City, we ate. I mean, we ATE.

We started our feast weekend started with an amazing Mongolian buffet. BD’s Mongolian Grill is the most creative and unique little place to eat. You go through a line and pick all the uncooked food you would want to eat and put it all in a bowl. After you’ve picked all your meat, pasta, veggies, spices, and sauces, you hand your bowl over to the chef’s who cook the food in front of you on a giant circle grill.

This was the best Mongolian food I’ve ever eaten! Trust me!

After our night of Mongolian food, we got to spend the weekend with the family carving pumpkins, playing games, and enjoying time together.

We ended our trip in Plant City by watching Jay’s dad preach and then eating a healthy brunch with the family! First Watch is the best brunch place to go in Brandon. Chikichaungas are my new favorite version of chimichanga’s. If you ever have a chance to go to First Watch, go!

Anyways, I hope I didn’t make you too hungry with these pictures! I can’t wait to tell you what happens this week!

Weddings and Jesus

Wedding season has arrived!

John Lukas and I had the great privilege to watch two friends get married this past weekend. It was truly a beautiful wedding filled with love, laughter, family, and Jesus. I love having the ability to go to wedding’s where both people are so in love with each other and are so in love with Jesus. It truly is a blessing to see a man and a woman unite together in marriage.

Marriage is such a beautiful sacrament talked about over and over again in Scripture. Marriage is a true picture of what our relationship with Jesus looks like. The picture of true love and of a groom committing to take care of his bride is a constant reminder to me that Jesus truly loves us and truly commits to taking care of us.

Weddings are a time of joy and excitement, but the time leading up to that wedding is a time of anticipation. We are in that time of anticipation now. As Christians, we are waiting for our groom to return. We are to be preparing for that wedding day when Christ will come for His bride, the church. How exciting is it to know that one day He will come for us?

My question for you would be, how are you preparing for that wedding day? What are you doing now to be prepared for Christ to come for you? Are you pursuing other things and trying to live for other things because it feels like He’s taking too long? Are you saddened and frustrated that He hasn’t yet come? I want to encourage you to keep your focus on Him! He will come. We may not know when, but we know that He will.

I want to challenge myself and you to live this week pursuing Christ. What if we knew He was coming back on Friday? How would you live differently? Or would you live differently? Think about it….

Happy adventuring!

Adventures and Anniversaries!

Welcome back! I’m so excited you’re here. This week was filled with lots of work, lots of good food, and a beautiful new adventure!

So let’s talk about Landmark Park in Dothan, Alabama. This park was the cutest little historical park in Dothan, and we got lucky enough to show up during their Fall Days event. This was the cutest little festival with turtles, ponies, wagons, hayrides, and so much more!

After playing with the turtle, petting a camel, and scratching the goats, we took off and started exploring the trails. This park was definitely different than other parks we’ve been to recently. Instead of just all dirt trails, Landmark Park has a wooden walkway built over a small river to allow you to explore and watch the wildlife without disturbing them.

This week was also extremely exciting because John Lukas and I celebrated our eight month anniversary. I know, I know, it doesn’t sound like much, but we love to celebrate even the smallest of things. We were able to visit another new coffee shop, and then spend time together making dinner and relaxing at my apartment. These last eight months together have flown by. We’ve explored and traveled to four different states, survived a lockdown, and continued to pursue Christ together.

It has been a crazy eight months together. We started dating a month before the world shut down due to COVID-10. We quarantined for three months together with his family and some with my family. We spent the summer traveling back and forth from Plant City to Graceville to visit each other. Now, we’re spending our days exploring, growing together, and navigating our way through a new relationship.

We’re so excited to continue to this life together and to continue to explore this great big world! Thanks for joining us this week! Happy adventuring!

Pumpkins, Mental Health, and More!

Welcome back! I’m so excited you’re here to join me tonight!

This week was very busy, but John Lukas and I made the most of it! Instead of traveling super far away, we decided to stay local and explore our own backyard.

With fall in full swing, we decided to go on an impromptu date night. From pumpkin patches, to local thrift stores, to movies on the couch, it was a great night of enjoying time together and taking a break from the hustle and bustle of day to day life.

I don’t know about y’all, but I love the sense of fall that pumpkin decor adds to any room! These cute miniature pumpkins were such a great addition to my cozy little apartment.

Our weekend consisted of staying at home and watching Survivor all weekend! This was the first weekend we stayed home in several weeks. When I tell y’all that this was a breath of fresh air, I mean it. I have a bad habit of wanting to always go somewhere and do something and stay busy. Often John Lukas has to remind me to slow down and let myself recover, which leads me to what I want to talk to y’all about.

Saturday was World Mental Health Awareness Day. Mental health is a topic that doesn’t get talked about much. One in four people struggle with their mental health-myself included. I struggled with mental health issues all through high school and college. I didn’t know what to do or how to handle it. I didn’t think it was something a lot of people dealt with, but then I started to read and study it. I wanted to find a solution for myself, and in that search, I found a community. I found a career path. I found therapy. All of these different things helped me learn how to process, handle, and deal with the issues I was dealing with.

I was able to learn to embrace the weird and awkward parts of myself. I was able to learn to love myself for who I am. I was able to learn that I was created and put on this earth to be nobody else but me.

I still have my days or weeks or even months (like quarantine!) where I struggle, but mental health is something that you continuously grow through! It’s okay to talk about it. It’s okay to admit you’re struggling. It’s okay to ask for help. If you don’t know where to go, who to go to, or what to do, ask someone you trust or even ask me! I will do everything I can to get you the help and support you need.

Anyways, thank you for joining me on this weeks blog! I can’t wait to share with you the excitement that we have coming this weekend! Look forward to chatting with you next week! Happy adventuring!

My Parents (finally!) Come to Visit!

Image preview

Let me start this week’s entry by saying that I have the best parents in the world. Back in May, I was supposed to walk in my college graduation that I have worked so hard for. My parents have pushed me, supported me, and encouraged me through all the work that graduating took. I was so excited to have my parents come to Florida to see me, to see the life I had built, and to see the reward for all the hard work and support that we had all put in. Unfortunately, COVID-19 happened, and my family was not able to come and see me.

Fast forward to last week- my parents were able to come down for a week long vacation in Panama City Beach, Florida and spend time with me (and, of course, John Lukas!). It was such a great opportunity to spend time with them and to show them the life that I have started to build here in Florida.

This was a week filled with adventures, bonding, and relaxation. Our Airbnb at the Tidewater Resort was the best room we could have asked for. Being on the 24th floor allowed us to have the opportunity to see the most amazing sunsets, dolphins jumping in the horizon, and stingrays patrolling the shoreline. We were able to spend most of our time relaxing on the beach and enjoying the first few days of October “Florida style”!

We had so many chances to make amazing memories. We had a great time eating massive amounts of ice cream, competing at Dave and Buster’s, and even watching some of the dumbest movies we could find! I am so grateful for any time that I get to spend with my parents and always want to take advantage of these moments. I am beyond grateful for them and the support that they continuously give me through life. I cannot wait for the next adventure with them, and hopefully, getting to walk in a graduation that they can watch!

I am beyond blessed by the Christ to have parents who push me, love me, and want to see my succeed. It is also a huge blessing to see His creation and enjoy the beauty of His handiwork. I am reminded over and over of Galatians 2:20, “nevertheless, it is not I, but Christ who lives in me”. He has given me this beautiful gift of life and salvation to pursue what He has for me. He has given me strong, supportive people in my life to push me to fulfill the life He has for me. I am so grateful to Him for everything He has done for me.

I hope you have enjoyed your week and this has blessed you in some way! Happy adventuring!

Life After Graduation

Hello! Good evening! Welcome!

I am so excited to start this journey of blogging and sharing with all of you! I figured I would start off with just a little life update about what has been happening in my life post-college graduation!

Things are so exciting and crazy here in the panhandle! With COVID-19 taking its toll on life and causing changes, it has been one thing after the other. I am so grateful to be working several different jobs, all which allow me the freedom to travel, explore, and spend time with family!

I am also getting ready to start a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling, and I am SO EXCITED! I cannot wait to pursue a degree and career where I can help others and ultimately spread the love of Jesus to the hurting and broken.

And last, but certainly not least, I am loving life and loving exploring and adventuring with my adventure buddy, John Lukas. He is my go-to late night snack buddy, my source of laughs, and ultimately-my best friend.

I hope you stick along for this journey with me, and I cannot wait to hear from you all! Come check me out every Monday night at 6:30!

Happy adventuring!
